THE CEILING 50:This blog has been set up to publish and ask for suggestions for a list of 50 individuals from history who have had a significant impact on civilization. The 50 characters, when the list is finalized, will be elevated - literally - on to the ceiling of a large room of an Italian villa, Casa Bella Fonte in a town called Montalto della Marche. The project is to design and paint an "Atheists Sistine Chapel Ceiling".

First understood and explained a scientific principle that fundamentally changed the way we see the world
Have changed the nature of art and culture
Have had profound insights into the way we see ourselves, culture and society
Have significantly enhanced human rights
Have inspired millions and left a lasting legacy
